Why The Blues?

This is a good question and I have a very solid answer. In the business of health insurance there are no other companies that have greater name recognition than the names Blue Cross and Blue Shield. They exist in every state of the Union in some format or another. These independent franchises spend millions and millions of dollars each year advertising their products. They are responsible for insuring the largest portion of the insured population in the United States. Most every person knows what these names represent.

As a broker you can ride on the coat tails of this name recognition and the more than 70+ years of exposure to the public. Even if you choose to sell other products the likely hood of your prospect considering a product from Blue Cross or Blue Shield is highly probable. People do not truly understand the differences between these two companies especially in a state like California where they are direct competitors with each other. Their provider networks also bring heavy weight to the table when considering a managed care product.

These companies also offer brokers additional compensation for advertising when you do a good job and they will subsidize many forms of advertising with the broker. They run corporate ads continually, keeping their names in front of the public. When people search for health insurance invariably they will search using some form of the name "Blue Cross" or "Blue Shield". Then there are those searching for International coverage's. Again the public does not understand the difference here either and they many times will use the name Blue Cross or Blue Shield within their search queries for International coverage's.

In short if you are selling health insurance today, you would be making a mistake by not representing these two companies. Individualhealth.com has over 9 years of visibility on the internet and in the search engines utilizing the names of these two companies. If you are going fishing you need to use the right bait.
