Blue Shield of California Health Insurance Plans for Individuals & Families
For more than 60 years Blue Shield of California has provided Californians with quality health insurance plans for their families. Today the tradition continues. Blue Shield of California currently offers a wide selection of health plans to choose from. Five PPO Plans called Shield Spectrum PPO, the Active Start Plans, the Active Start 25 and the Active Start 35, Access+ HMO, the Shield Savings Plans (HSA eligible) and the all new Vital Shield and Vital Shield Plus Plans. All Blue Shield of California plans are structured to include more cost effective sharing with their members. In short this means that members who use more services or more expensive healthcare providers will be responsible for a larger portion of the costs.

The Vital Shield Plus Plans...
Blue Shield of California introduced two new plans recently, the Vital Shield Plans and the Vital Shield Plus Plans. The Vital Shield plans provide basic benefits and a low or moderate deductible in case of hospitalization, surgery or other major medical events. These lower priced PPO Plans cover two - five office visits depending on the product you choose. And with the Plus plans you can increase your prescription drug benefit to include Brand Name drugs. Blue Shield of California now offers a range of affordable and comprehensive dental plans available to residents of California with or without a Blue Shield health plan. With Blue Shield's broad dental network including nearly 20,000 dental PPO providers and more than 8,600 HMO providers in California it is easy to access one of the largest networks in California.
